Spin Results and Review

I am only two days late in finishing and three late in posting my progress on the Classics Spin results that ended on May 15th. It has been quite a few spins since I was able to finish a book. My book for this spin was The Railway Children by E. Nesbit. So what are my thoughts for this book? It was ok wasn't the best book but wasn't horrible either. This is of course a child's book and I can see how it would be appealing to children who loved trains or a little adventure. Basically, the story entails about a few siblings who for unknown reasons to them, are made to leave London with their mother and move to the country. It is then about the people they met and a few adventures, which as an adult become rather predicable, but to a child might not be. Even though later on you find out why they moved and how come the father was no longer involved in their lives, one issue isn't quite resolved for sure, they give you a hint who you assume is correct later on but never say for sure. I give it a 3 out of 5, perhaps if I was younger it would have been given a higher rating. The next book I will be reading for the Classics Club is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

Bout of Books 13 Day 7 Update and Wrapup

Bout of Books So how was my progress for yesterday? I finished reading the 75 pages in order to finish the book The Railway Children by E. Nesbit. I didn't start reading another book though. Overall, for the challenge I could have done better, but for a variety of reasons wasn't into a reading mood. I did do better than previous attempts for this challenge though. I finished one book and read a total of 250 pages. My next post will be my thoughts and review of The Railway Children.

Bout of Books Day 5 Update

Bout of Books Yesterday, I read the most this book of 138 pages all of the Railway Children. I only have to read 74 more pages to have finished the book, which I hope to do either today or tomorrow. If I complete it today I plan on starting on Dead Wake by Erik Larson. What are you reading today?

Bout of Books Day Three Update

Bout of Books Yesterday I read about 40 pages or so, not as much as I had previously thought. I did make one decision that I will not continue to try and read Casino Royale. I am actually only in the second chapter, yes I know not that far at all, but I really don't care for it. Normally, for a book I read it halfway or even make myself finish a book that I do not like, in the hopes that it will get better which rarely happens. I have decided then that from now on if I do not like really anything about a book I will just give up on it. So what did I read instead? The Children's Railway, and I can tell it will end up being a fast read. So far I think it is a good book for kids who have never lived in or visited the country and also for those who have memories of times in the country. The siblings so far have been playing and seeing the trains go through the small town. I am sure some type of adventure or mystery will appear soon, so it will be interesting to see what occurs.

The Railway Children: Currently on page 54
Casino Royale: No Longer Reading
Dead Wake: Haven't Started
Lydia Bennett's Story: Page 8

Plans to read today The Railway Children

May WIPocalypse 2015

WIPocalypse Button This is actually my first update on any cross stitch that I have done this year for the WIPocalypse. I worked out it quite a bit this weekend, here is a photo showing what it looked like before I started.

The pictures below are my progress throughout the weekend.

I think that I got quite a bit done and hope to eventually have it completed before the end of July for my sister's birthday.

Progress In One Day

This picture is what my project looked like before I started working on it last night.

This is how far I got on my work last night. I think I got quite a bit done. I might not get that much done in the next day or two because of finals week.

Flosstube

I had to share this for anyone who loves cross stitch. Do you like to see peoples WIPs of Cross Stitch or see what projects people will be starting on? I recently found a group on YouTube called Flosstube. It is fantastic! Some of the people have stitch a longs where they either work on the exact same project or any project by a certain designer. Lots of people show their past works, current, and future ones as well. Most of the videos I have seen are either 15-45 minutes long. I wish there was a group that also did this for weaving or bobbin lace. I see quite a few videos on crochet and quilting.

Farm and Rooster WIP

I worked on this project quite a bit last week. Once completed this will go into our kitchen. I can't wait to start working on the Rooster later as it is very pretty. This is the only craft item I worked on last week. What have you been working on?
